The City of Playford has approximately 600 kilometres of footpath network throughout the City and provides a footpath on at least one side of most residential streets.

Repair and Maintenance

To report a broken or damaged footpath please contact Customer Care (08) 8256 0333, send an email to or log a request online via e-pathway

Each request is individually inspected and assessed then placed on a program of works based on their condition rating (including severity of damage) and/or the specific needs of the community.  In the event that the damage is rated as minor, the request will be placed onto a register with works to be programmed as funding is made available.

Damaged Caused by Individuals, Contractors or Organisations

Council is responsible for the maintenance of footpaths throughout the City of Playford.  Individuals, contractors or organisations carrying out works are required to notify Council in writing.  The footpath is to be reinstated to a standard that is compliant to Council's specifications.  If you would like further information about work undertaken on Underground Services within our city please click here

Request for New Footpath

Council has allocated funding for the 2015/16 financial year for the installation of new footpaths.  The program targets areas where there are missing sections of footpaths.  The funding allocation will provide connections for missing sections of footpaths and may require the removal of vegetation/plantings on the footpath alignment which has previously been installed by the residents.

Footpaths are installed in new subdivisions once the area is complete.  If you have recently built a home and are in the process of landscaping your front yard and would like to know which side of the street the footpath will be on, you may log a customer request to Council.

Footpaths are usually 1.2 to 1.5 metres wide and, are either installed adjacent the property boundary or the kerb.  Domestic irrigation and drainage may be altered if necessary when the footpath is installed but they will be reinstated before practical completion of the site is achieved.  Property owners / occupiers of the residence will be advised in writing (at least 48 hours in advance) before the footpath is installed.
