Green Organics Collection Service

A Green Organics Collection Service has been added to Council’s regular kerbside waste program.

The program is a new service for the City of Playford, funded by Council through the 2014/15 budget.

Adding a green organics bin to the regular waste collection service will give residents the chance to dispose of garden and organic material with minimal effort.

To take up the service, all you need need to do is:

  • Step 1: Purchase a 240L bin, or use an existing green 240L you have at home.

  • Step 2: Register the bin with the Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority (NAWMA) on 1800 111 004 or 8259 2100. You will receive a sticker for your bin in the post.

  • Step 3: Put your bin on the kerbside each fortnight

Please note that the sticker shows your involvement in the Green Organics collection service. No sticker means your bin will not be collected.

This service allows residents to dispose of all organic matter including fruit and vegetable scraps, eggshells and dairy products, meat, bones and seafood scraps as well as tissues and paper towels. Get to know the range of items that are good to go!

Collection of green organics will happen on your normal bin day, on the alternate fortnight to the recycling bin. The green organics will be collected and professionally processed and recycled into compost-based products such as soil conditioners, mulches, garden soils and potting mixes.

For further information about the service phone NAWMA on 1800 111 004 or 8259 2100 Council’s Customer Care team can also be contacted on 8256 0333.
