The City of Playford understands the importance of keeping the community connected with the local food system.
Having better access to fresh, local food makes it easier for us to lead healthier lives. Eating foods grown closer to home also helps us to save money and the environment. We can even taste the difference!
The fertile lands of Playford have been feeding the local people for centuries. By engaging with the local food system, we can keep this legacy going - for us and for future generations.

Healthy, Local Food in the City of Playford is a 4 year strategic plan that aims to improve the production, distribution, accessibility and availability of healthy food across the City of Playford.
Council already does a lot to promote Community Wellbeing, and the aim of this plan is to recognise this, as well as look at ways we can build on this and strengthen relationships across council to promote healthy local food.
The plan includes 5 key direction areas and details a range of strategies and actions including: Establishing a Community Garden Network; Reinforcing Playford Council’s Healthy Catering Policy; and Supporting the Playford Food Cooperatives including Mobile Food Co-op to increase the availability of healthy food items.
