Volunteers play a vital and essential role in Playford by...

Creating a better City

Volunteers connect closely with the local community to help build a positive and vibrant place to live, work and play.

The trees in the reserves, books on the library shelves, the meals and fitness classes at the Grenville Hub, the meal packs at the Food Co-op, the Youth Strategy are just a snapshot of the many services and programs that volunteers of Playford are currently involved in.

Our volunteers extend and enhance the services and programs delivered by Council, at the same time enjoy a great quality of life by participating in our programs and services. By participating in volunteering you will have the chance to feel a sense of pride and ownership in contibuting to this strong cohesive and connected community.

What is volunteering?

Volunteers are people who:

  • Provide their services of their own free will
  • Do not receive any monetary reward (doesn't include out of pocket expenses)
  • Benefit the community and themselves by participating in volunteer programs
  • Complement, but do not replace or threaten the livelihood of, paid workers
What are the benefits of volunteering?

We find that volunteering provides a two way experience that can provide many benefits including:

  • Gaining new skills and experience in an area of interest that can create pathways to employment
  • Meeting new people and being involved in meaningful activities
  • Provide opportunities for people to share their skills and knowledge with others
