The Urban Design Guidelines provide guidance on Council’s expectations for the design of the public realm, covering the below subjects:

  • Subdivisions, provides guidance for matters such as street layout, requirements for active transport and infrastructure placement
  • Streetscape elements, provides guidance for matters such as footpaths, pedestrian crossings, shared use paths, street trees, verges and entry statements
  • Movement and place, which provides considerations for street design regarding the movement function of a street and its role as a place for people
  • Character precincts, which provides additional guidance for the built form and urban realm outcomes for some of Playford’s key precincts
  • Open space, which provides guidance on the design of open spaces
  • Retro-fitting in established suburbs, which provides guidance on the upgrade and renewal of existing infrastructure in the public realm
