- A glimpse into the life of working on films and in game development.
As part of the CnVRg project, students from Elizabeth Downs Primary School and Playford International College visited industry mentors at CDW Studios.
The students had an opportunity to tour the studio and hear from concept artists, animators, and industry professionals.
They heard about the state of play of the industry, further learning, and career opportunities, as well as the importance of these transferable skills into other industries such as defence.
The aim of the visit and mentorship is to inspire student’s motivation into subjects such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and understand the importance of these subjects in creative fields such as game development and/or movie animation.
At CDW Studios, the students had the experience of watching a live demonstration from Cody Foreman, a concept artist, and heard from animators, Michelle Fedornak and Oscar Cook, about their journey into this field to now working on major films or teaching in the industry.
CnVRg aims to open the door to future career opportunities in collaboration with BAE Systems Australia and the City of Playford’s Northern Sound System.
CnVRg will see the students develop a virtual reality experience in Unreal Engine, an advanced real-time 3D creation tool.
The project participants consist of year 11 and 12 students completing SACE at Playford International College and year three to six students that are part of an extra curricula extension group, ARVR, from Elizabeth Downs Primary School.
