- A new place to play in Munno Para West
The City of Playford is excited to announce it will build a new neighbourhood park at Munno Para West.
The area has experienced rapid growth in recent years as major developments have come online, which according to Mayor Glenn Docherty, has also increased the need for more outdoor spaces for people to enjoy.
“We know this is much-wanted by the Munno Para West community,” said Mayor Docherty. “Locals have been asking for this park and we are delighted to have signed a contract for the purchase of a piece of land that we can transform into something wonderful for the community.”
Long-term planning, through Council’s Open Space Strategy, also identified the need for more play areas in this rapidly growing part of Playford.
“We want to make sure everyone has access to quality open space,” said Mayor Docherty. “Since identifying this need in Munno Para West, we have been working hard to find a suitable site so this is a great step forward.”
A key part of the park’s construction will be community input in to its design, which is expected to occur in 2022.
“Residents will help shape the design of the new park and we will look forward to hearing their ideas,” said Mayor Docherty. “It will be exciting to see the plans come together.”
The neighbourhood park at Munno Para West will add to Council’s growing list of parks, playgrounds, dog parks and trials, including four new playgrounds that will be constructed this year at Burdell Reserve, Elizabeth Downs, Willison-Goodman Reserve, Elizabeth South, Mandeville Reserve, Davoren Park and California Reserve, Craigmore.
More information about the location of the park will be shared following final settlement of the land. Construction is planned to commence in 2022/23.
