Seven community organisations and clubs have shared in up to $27,000 of Community Development and Events Grants thanks to the City of Playford.

City of Playford Mayor Glenn Docherty said these organisations and clubs all make a positive contribution to community and cultural life in the City.

“The grants provide those who have limited capacity to raise funds with the money needed to develop and deliver their locally based projects, community events and activities,” Mayor Docherty said.

“We want to continue to create a place of opportunity, supporting the community’s hopes and vision for a vibrant Playford.”

The Elizabeth South Community Centre was one successful recipient, which received $5,000 in grant funding in the aim to continue strengthening and growing its services, as well as increasing participation of its Kids Club and Women’s Group.

Centre Manager, Michelle Stevens, said this grant would help ensure the sustainable growth of these programs continuing to provide new opportunities to a broader audience.

“We want to continue to grow our capacity,” Michelle said. “The start-up of a junior high space will keep us connected with those young people and the Women’s Group will allow us to expand opportunities to explore and take them on excursions.”
