- Wills Day at Stretton Centre delivers
Salvation Army Wills Day hosted at Stretton Centre Munno Para has successfully provided a much-needed service, with 80 wills being prepared for residents across the day.
All appointments were booked on Wednesday 19 March 2025, as members of the public eagerly took advantage of the discounted services on offer, with just over 30% of appointments taken by residents of Playford.
A Salvation Army initiative, Wills Day gave the community an opportunity to prepare their wills with independent local solicitors who generously supported the event. Fees for the will preparations ($150 individual contribution or $250 per couple) were directed back into the Salvation Army’s vital community work. Attendees benefited from savings of approximately 75% off the average cost of the preparation of a will. Rosalind Stiffle from Elizabeth Grove, who attended Wills Day, was pleased to have her affairs in order. “After working for 40-years as a nurse and retiring and moving interstate I knew I needed to sort out my will. When I received an invitation to attend I knew it was the perfect opportunity,” said Rosalind. “I don’t drive so being able to travel locally helped immensely and gave me peace of mind.”
Mayor Glenn Docherty emphasised the importance of using Council spaces to provide accessible services which directly benefit our community.
“Creating a will is one of the most important steps an individual can take to ensure their wishes are honoured after their passing,” said Mayor Glenn Docherty.
“The City of Playford was proud to support Wills Day by providing free venue hire for this valuable initiative.”
“Offering this service at an accessible location like Stretton Centre, at a discounted price, helps simplify the process and make it available to more people.”
