Inaugural trial to boost Playford school holiday fun

A brand-new unlimited Casual Court Pass trial will kick-off in January 2025 at Playford’s popular sport and recreation space, John McVeity Centre, offering the community a safe and inclusive space to enjoy ball sports in the summer holidays.

JMC offers our community a dynamic facility to engage in sport and community programs, meet with friends and access meaningful time with other residents in the community.

Mayor Glenn Docherty said it provides opportunities for people to come together and connect socially, helping to foster better wellbeing outcomes within the community.

“The court pass trial is another way we provide our residents an opportunity to get active and participate in community connection,” Mayor Docherty said.

“The school holidays are a perfect time for sport lovers to visit JMC and the pass will provide new visitors with a snapshot of the great activities available.”

Passes for the new trial are available now for $50, providing unlimited access to JMC’s courts from 1-31 January. The passes are available to everyone who loves sports, including children under 10 years old, under adult supervision.

The air-conditioned courts keep visitors cool in the heat of summer and the on-site kiosk provides food and drink. Bookings are not required for casual court use and to access the unlimited fun, cardholders just use the QR code on the back of each card to check out weekly court availability or alternatively, can call the centre to find out.

On weekdays, cardholders can use the court for as long as they want and on weekends, unlimited session times will be offered to make sure everyone has access.

Most visitors access the courts to play basketball, netball and futsal. JMC can provide equipment to borrow but visitors are urged to bring along their favourite ball from home to make sure no one misses out.

JMC is part of Playford’s Wellbeing Hub and many people rely on the space to support their health and wellbeing.
